Danish homewares retailer to open debut store in Kent

Danish homewares retailer Søstrene Grene has announced the opening of its first store in Kent.

Situated at the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre in Tunbridge Wells, the new store is expected to open on 31 May 2024, although this is only a provisional date.

Mikkel Grene, CEO and co-owner of Søstrene Grene, said: “We are very much looking forward to opening a new store at Royal Victoria Place and in Tunbridge Wells. We cannot wait to welcome both new and existing customers and look forward to offering even more of our British customers the chance to experience the wonderful world of Søstrene Grene.”

Nicky Blanchard, Centre Manager at Royal Victoria Place, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Søstrene  Grene to Royal Victoria Place, another fantastic new retailer to add to our expanding retail mix.”

The news adds to the retailer’s recent announcement of the opening of its second store in London, located in Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross. Officially opening on 10 May, the store adds to its other site in Tottenham Court Road.

The new store adds to its ongoing UK expansion, adding to its aim of having 100 stores across the UK by 2030. It recently announced it will open its first East Anglian store, situated on London Street in Norwich, which is set to open later this year.

Furthermore, Søstrene Grene announced plans to open three new stores in Scotland. The retailer said it plans to open on Buchanan Street in Glasgow later this year, marking the second city location with its other store located in St Enoch Centre.

Two other Scottish stores are planned to open in Bon Accord Shopping Centre, Aberdeen, and Waverley Market in Edinburgh in the coming months.

Other recent store openings over the past 12 months include York, London, Cheltenham, Kingston, High Wycombe, Bracknell, and Sheffield, as well as in Liverpool and Leamington Spa.
