Upholstered sofas and chairs recalled over fire risk

A number of upholstered sofas and chairs has been recalled by Ferm Living after presenting a fire risk.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued the recall of upholstered sofas and lounge chairs in green colour, which originated from Italy.

The models recalled include the Rico Lounge Chair Rich Velvet C/M, Rico Lounge Chair, Swivel Rich Velvet C/M, Rico Divan Rich Velvet L/R C/M, Rico 3-seater Rich Velvet C/M, and Buur Lounge Chair Rich Velvet C/M.

A statement said: “The product has been identified as presenting a risk of fire as the fabric fails to meet the requirements of the relevant standard BS5852. If the fabric came into contact with a naked flame, it could catch fire and continue to flame.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988.

“The product has been recalled from end users. Affected customers are being contacted by Ferm Living to inform them of the safety risk, and provide further details on the replacement of the product or the issuing of a credit note.”
