Home furnishings retailer Dunelm has revealed progress in its plans to relocate a Cambridgeshire store to a larger premises.
Initial plans to move its Peterborough store, currently situated at Boulevard Retail Park, to a bigger unit on the same site – formerly a Currys/PC World store, were approved by Peterborough City Council in February last year.
A year on, planning for the installation of various signage at the new unit has also been approved.
The initial planning application stated: “The application proposals will facilitate the relocation of Dunelm to a larger unit on the retail park that is now better suited to meet their operational requirements.
“This will in turn enhance the customer experience for its shoppers, allowing for an enhanced range of furniture and furnishings to be offered to customers. An ancillary café will also be introduced.”
Dunelm has been situated on the retail park since 2007 and its move will allow for fellow furniture retailer Lee Longlands to take its current site.
Lee Longlands aims to open a café within the store too. Opening dates for both retailers are yet to be confirmed.
